What is the Purpose of a DxDiag Report
When dealing with technical issues a GM might need to take a closer look at your system to be able to identify the reason of a malfunction.
A DxDiag report gives the technical team the opportunity to look at your whole system including:
- System Information
- Display Devices
- Sound Devices
- Sound Capture Devices
- DirectInput Devices
- USB Devices
- System Devices
Technical issues can have many different reasons and this report increases the chances of solving them by giving a description of your technical surrounding.
How to Create a DxDiag Report
Should a GM request a DxDiag report from you, you can simply follow these steps:
- Press Start in Windows or on your keyboard
- Search/type in "DxDiag" and open the application
- Press "Save All Information..." at the bottom of the window
- Navigate to an easily accessible location on your system and "Save" the report
You can now attach this file to your ticket so that the GM assigned to your ticket can more likely solve the issue with your help.
Is There Any Personal Information in a DxDiag Report?
No, a DxDiag report doesn't include any sensitive information. We are always encouraging our players to be mindful what to send, but in this case, only technical information will be shared. The only thing which could refer to the sender could be the Machine name.
If you are not comfortable sharing this or any information within the report feel free to edit the file before sending it to us but be aware that some important information might not be visible to the GM and makes it more difficult for them to solve your ticket.
